What lens do you use for shooting paintball?

Just curious what you paintball shooters use for a lens. Am going to be covering some larger semi-local events this year and want to do it right with the lens. Was planning on renting a 17-40 L lens for a upcoming xball event. So what do you shoot shooting with?

70-200 is a popular focal range. It's best to have fast glass in the f2.8 variety.

70-200 F2.8IS II, and 17-40 F4.0 for the canon side of things. I dislike anything where the zoom is not contained for paintball.

I've always used a 70-300 f4-f5.6. I just got a canon 70-300 f4-f5.6 IS USM but I'll probably get something faster in the future.

It's a great little lens for the money though. Tack sharp

Never used a L lens, so I have to ask, whats the difference between the USM ll and the USM? There's almost a $30 price difference for renting it so thought I would ask

Newer faster and Canon loves charging more for new tech while not changing prices on the older. LOL

But really it's newer and the other lenses have paid for themselves many times over already.

Oh ok, sorry about that just got off work a bit tired brain is not quite working all the way ^_^. The ones they have at lensrental.com are different in a couple of ways. To start with the V1 they have is a non IS. However, since most of the time you are probably going to be taking pictures at such a high shutter speed having image stabilization does not matter as much. The V2 does have better focusing speeds, and also produces a crisper image at F2.8 supposedly. I never owned a V1 so I can't comment on that ^_^. I will say that either way you go they are both very good lens.
