Halo 4 - November 6

Can't wait. I'm mostly into Halo for the SP, so the game going back to being about a badass soldier on a mysterious alien world suits me perfectly. I guess people are complaining about the changes to the MP, but I have it from a very good source that it's still very much Halo.

Some of the multiplayer changes are questionable. They are instituting a CoD-like loadouts system where you get to customize weapons and armor abilities you spawn with; also, all on-map weapons will be randomly spawned a la the ordinance drops from Reach's Firefight mode. One thing I always liked about Halo's multiplayer was that everybody spawned with the same weapons (though in Reach you could change weapons and armor abilities depending on the game mode, but that was reasonably well-balanced) and so anybody who performed well did so based purely on skill. Now, we'll have all kinds of people spawning with noob tubes (or the Halo equivalent thereof) and the game will largely lose its more skill-oriented approach to performing well.

However, I, too, am largely in it for the single player, and I gotta say, that music sample sounded pretty good. Not Marty O'Donnell's work, but it did certainly still sound like Halo. I'm looking forward to the campaign; Reach was the first campaign to even compare to Halo 1's, but I'm looking forward to (once again) being stranded on a strange alien world and getting to explore new places.

I've never played Halo for the multiplayer, but for how short the campaign was in 3 I don't know if I'm really willing to pay for 4 at this point... If I bother with it I'll probably wind up waiting a looooong time to buy used or just borrow it from somebody to do the campaign and give it back.

I don't know how long Reach was, but I have played through the campaign countless times. Halo has this sweet quality that few other games have. It's not all that open, l but the gameplay itself is just plain sandbox fun. Halo 2 was a disappointment because they focused everything on the story and narrowing the playgrounds... taking away a lot of the emergent gameplay.

Halo 3 was better in that regard, but only Reach feels like Halo. With new enemies and environments that are said to dwarf anything in previous Halo games, I have high hopes for this.

I dunno, everyone hates on Halo2 but to me that was the best game of the series... But then again, I really like the story aspect of games, I guess that's why I like Deus Ex and the old Wing Commander games so much.

.

That can all be fixed with a different selection of game modes.

Still halo 1 is the best for multiplayer on comptuer, i love it.

If Halo had better multiplayer menus I would play it. It's easily the worst menu system for any major FPS on any system.

I enjoy these games but each campaign has, in my opinion, been progressively worse. Excluding Reach as I thought it had a pretty good campaign, everything after the original was just out shadowed by the original. 2 was great for the initial play through, and after that it just became repetitive. 3 was so bad that I still to this day have times where I think of a part of it and go, 'Now was that in 2 or 3?' 2 and 3 are great examples that a great control layout and graphics DO NOT make a good game. Metro 2033 has some of the clunkiest, slowest controls on the planet but it is far better in my opinion.

I buy most games for the campaign single player first, and multiplayer second. This sucks as anymore games are becoming multiplayer games with a campaign tacked on(Battlefield.)

I'm worried they changed it too much... everything looks so much different, and I think they brought new people in who don't have the same kind of attachment as the old devs did. They're focusing on some things that I don't think need as much attention, and vice versa...
