Probably forgetting many other games, that were iconic and groundbreaking decade before those words became meaningless.

Recent Games - Uncharted 3 was horrible.
Older Games - NHL 93 for Genesis. Could score goals with east during a 3 on 5 penalty kill.

Holy ****. What an amazing game for it's time. I spent hours on that game, even though I only ever had the demo. Some day i'll find a copy of that and windows XP and finish it.

Look for FS2 Open - an open source modernization and enhancement of both Freespace games. Brings the best Space sim into the modern age of computing. Plus a ton of total conversion mods, like Battlestar Galactica, and Babylon 5 (and even Wing Commander!)

I love the B5 one [and the series+movies], but the game is freaking hard!

In terms of good A.I., I always thought the soldiers in Half Life 1 and 2 do a pretty good job of keeping you on your toes. Double for the HL1 assassins.

GreHastings Mxed was pretty bad too. I had it on the DS (yeah, I know), and beat the game with 1 tatic. running down the tape line and shooting in. I may have had to play a few fields more than once, but never changed my tatic.
