It'll work great. I second the 50 f1.8 as a lens. Indoor, the 18-55 won't work terribly well.

What should I be searching for on the lens? I checked eBay and everything looks like they are for older body Canons.

Edit: Found it

That would be correct.
FD is for the older slrs and EF is used with the DSLRs.

On a side note, not sure how the Canon 35mm prime is... But I love the 35mm as general purpose glass.

I just checked out that lens, if I am seeing the proper one, they seem to be about 3x the price of the 50 f1.8 unless I am looking at the wrong one all together.

I found the EF 50mm f1.8 for around $115 and the 35mm prime is just a shade over $300. Maybe that lens comes after the baby

Doubt you'll need this.
Canon U.S.A. : Consumer & Home Office : EF 35mm f/2

Would be nice to have.

The 18-55 and the 55-200 is the two basic glass I would reccomend for most basic applications.
50mm prime is cheap and great for low light situations and gives excellent results.

The pic below is taken with a 50mm with a T1i iirc. I forget what the event photog was using. Stock camera flash, no extra flash unit.

35mm is great as well.

The "nifty 50" usually sells in the $60-$110 range.

Yeah the 35mm runs a bit more... I saved countless pennies to get it.

Sell the baby and profit.
