Very happy sad moment today

Sadly today I found out some bad news. My very good friend of about 2 years has recently been having some health issues and went to the doctor today to get checked out. The news wasn't good, the rust has gone too far and there really isn't anything they can do beyond a full organ replacement to fix the issue.

So, with great regret, I shall put my 500D to the pasture and let her die a gentle death of being a backup body. She'll be happily collecting dust on my photography shelf back home till the end of time.

The good news is I got a good deal on a 60D body this evening thanks to a camera salesman who was quitting and didn't give a damn about making his company money

My 500D has been making some very strange sounds as of late, some of the buttons don't allows work, shutter should be going any day now, battery door is messed up, loads of errors, IQ has been funny always, one of the focus points doesn't work, and seen a lot better days overall. The quote to make her all better was only about a $100 difference than just buying a new one. Not worth fixing. I've more than got my money's worth out of the body and I really felt I could use the upgrade anyhow.

Swivel LCD on the 60D is awesome!

I recommend blasting the 500D with a shot gun while capturing photos of it disintegrating with the 60D, all the while swiveling the LCD screen.

I almost bought a 60D but I splurged and got the 7D. I find myself wanting that swively screen and adjustable mic level a lot lately

Congrats on the new camera!

First images turned out pretty good shooting at a 2000 ISO tonight. Less noise, better AF, much much better viewfinder (pretty much impossible to MF with Rebel series IMO, I've given up with MF anything). Don't like the button layout as it feels kinda cheap/cheesy but I'll get use it and the battery charger is HUGE compared to the 500D's. Heavy as a brick too and big, but I've gotten pretty use what is one of the smallest and lightest DSLR's on the market with my big hands LOL

I really like my 500 as well, but oh yeah, I'd love the swival screen. The one thing I wish the 60D had is the focus microadjustment like the 50D and 7D.

Yeap, my 500D was most definitely having some serious issues or the 60D is such a huge quantum leap in image quality. I'm having an orgy of IQ from this new toy. Why the heck I was still using 'old friend' I don't know.

Would love to post some new images but bad internet prevents me from doing so

My brother just upgraded from a 10D to 5D3. You can imagine what kind of review he gave me. "I will never take another photo with the 10D again."
