Nope, it would be huge and overly expensive to produce. The closest lens you'll find in the Canon world is the 70-300 and that's a 4-5.6. Nice lens too.

I've been looking at that lens and the reviews seem to indicate that while the 50 1.8 takes good pictures, the construction quality is bad. Hence the $130 price tag.

whats getting real interdasting is changing the cameras iso to achive faster shutter times in low light, the 60d is looking pretty nice at 1250 iso.

There are rumors of native 3200 & 6400 iso sensors.

What illuminatingis to look at a photojournalist like Bruce Gilden's work
Bruce Gilden | LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph

the tech of his set up is pretty simple. Wide fast and close.

true, but for a lens you can pick up for $50 used...

if you dont mind spending ~$400 on a lens go for it... the 50mm f/1.4 is $20 cheaper new and ive found a few locally for about $300.

oh, and that 40mm f/2.8 looks... interesting, especially with the $200 price tag i saw it on canons site today and now i want to try it out. seems like it could be fun. ill definately be wating on some more reviews though

I actually have the 50 f.18. It is a rather nice lense for the price but the boken is not as stellar as any of the high end lens.
