streamripper=fun

I used to do this alot, getting back into it. My setup is a xeon box running suse, amarok and xmms simultaneously with streamripper over xmms. The xmms rips 'silent' while amarok plays, and xml metadata is read into streamripper for track,artist info, and that's used to split the tracks in to separate .mp3s on the fly.

I am currently running streamripper multithreaded, so I can rip and seperate a ton of streams at once..........

time to upgrade my raid 50's size to 3 terabytes. $hit that will co$t.

My storage requirements began increasing exponentially the day I found a good stream grabber for windows that allowed me to script for it.!!

500GB drives are hitting the cheap, Seagate 5yr warranty drives have been around $100 with specials running all the time.

i'd need larger.

do do a raid 50 you have to have at least 6 drives.
so currently I have 6 300s, biggest I could afford 18 months ago.

What exactly do you use the stream rippers for? I've heard about them but never found out why you would want to use one. Please enlighten me.

basically to preserve radio streams as mp3s, separated into songs. I mostly listen to Euro stuff I can't buy here that way.
