I tried it on a laptop - hated it

then I tried it on a tablet and found it ... not too bad

Well after playing around with it some more its ok.
Pros:
desktop, and a lot of other things work just like 7
start menu is ok, and apps could be cool (most are not, but the potential is there)
new task manager with more info

cons:
dificult to shut down
metro apps are aweful right now
awkward navigating from things other than desktop
and my biggest gripe, if I use an app like IE or Chrome, it is not the same as launching from desktop!

As mentioned before, Microsoft has a pattern of getting people to upgrade and making bank over a terrible OS.

I also have had absolutely no motivation to touch windows 8, just like I had no motivation to touch Vista. Be happy with your OS and ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH
Yeah, now I get why you have that written under your alias. Makes total sense indeed. Congrats...

Sorry for the off-topic, guys but I really couldn't let that pass.

Going back to it, Wallify, I get what you say about it being hard to shut down. Have you tried the hybrid-sleep mode? Works wonders for me.

As for the biggest gripe, I get it. What happens is that the app uses the 64-bit browser, while the desktop one uses the 32-bits version. I believe that with time, as more and more sites are migrated to HTML 5, the 64-bits version will become the standard. As of now, the main problem is with the add-ons like the Flash player, Java etc.

Installed it in a VM, so far its to jarring the difference between metro and normal. I installed super8 to get my start button back. I may buy it just to have a license while it is cheap, but this will not be on my home machine or work machine anytime soon.

This strikes me like certain companies in paintball.

We have a rough idea what we want and we are going to release it in rough form while allowing others license to make it better.

Later, after we figure out how we should have made it in the first place because other people show us we will try again.

Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride?
