On PC, there is a kill range to all guns. (Thats why they have 'range' listed.)

I found it once, it was hilarious. I shot at someone, nothing. I stepped forward two steps, capped them... with the crosshair right on them for both shots. I would of loved some bullet drop, but too hard I suppose.

I was excited when I first bought the R700 but was pretty disappointed when the bullets would disappear on those would-be-epic long shots. IIRC, arrows actually travel further than sniper bullets and the .50 has a better range stat than the R700 but it still shoots at the R700's range. Does the range stat even work?

It must, because I couldn't hit ANYTHING with the SVD at range, swapped to the R700, then the .50 and I was hitting them just fine.

I think Steam had it on sale during the holiday sale, so it should go back up for sale at the end. Might've been the earlier sale though not the holiday, I can't remember.

Love this game, the thing I miss most from FC2 are the assassination missions. The "wanted" quests are ok, but having to kill the guy with a knife limits how you choose to take them on. They are also all stationary, whereas in FC2 there were some in vehicles (admittedly on fixed paths). I loved setting up massive C4 ambushes for those. The C4 and prox mine in FC3 are really limited in how useful they are. Love the hunting aspect of the game, wish they made it more difficult when you play the game on hard.

Does anyone know how to do the pistol takedown? I have the skill unlocked but everytime I try it activates the knife throw. Does it only work under certain circumstance?

press and hold L1 when you kill them, should do the animation of pulling the pistol, than hit R1. I can't ever shoot someone though, I get it pulled out then it goes away?

If they designated a team to work a bit better on the multiplayer aspects of FC3, this could seriously be THE perfect game. The story mode is insanely entertaining. It's sandboxy, which I typically don't like, but there's so much to do and it feels like it's actually impacting how you play. Hunting animals is rewarding, you create better gear for yourself. Doing quests levels you up, giving you skill points that broaden your potential, and taking camps from pirates in whatever fashion you want makes an area safer and opens more missions. I haven't gotten far into the story because I've been busy with all the other fun stuff! But the missions I have done were a blast.
