Comic Pull List?
Was just trying to remember what comics I wanted to pull, then thought, what the hey, post up and maybe others will put up some good suggestions too.
Mostly NSF the kiddies
Just finished and really recommend:
Saga - Out of nowhere, for me anyway, and was great. Love the very first page.
Super Crooks - fun and bit different.
Spider-Men - Amazing spider-man and ultimate spider-man crossover - I enjoy what Bendis wrights for spider-man's dialogue, especially his fight banter, and this crossover gives us 2 spider-men at the same time! Also great seeing peter parker reacting to a world that loved him/knows his identity etc.
Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe mindless fun.
Hawkeye - Really fun, love his "ugh... life" mentality and seeing what he does when he isn't being an avenger. Also loving the art.
Gambit - meh
Macgyver - also not wow'ed by this one yet.
Doctor Who/Star Trek Crossover - feels like it could live up to it's potential at any moment, just hasn't gotten there yet.
Minumum Carnage crossover with Venom(Flash) and the Scarlet Spider- actually enjoying this one.
Wolverine - around the 300-310 books, really liked the story arc with Romulus.
Walking Dead - been waiting for the tradebacks to catch up, instead of the individual comics.
BLACKEST NiGHT!!!!! It's a DC universe event spanning across every series! Best story line ever!
Just want to say that Saga and Hawkeye are still awesome.
Also actually really enjoying the Marvel Now. Liking the new banner not fighting the hulk, the idea of captain america meets lone wolf and cub storyline, even the new deadpool.
well I really enjoyed the recent incarnation of X-Force with Wolverine (guess its a couple years old now really), but still good. The Dark Angel storyline I found really enjoyable.
Watchmen is always a good read
Dark Empire Trilogy
Knights of the Old Republic was fun (yes I enjoy my star wars comics :P)
Crimson Empire was finally wrapped up, I'll be honest and say I think it finished on a bit of a low note, 1 and 2 was a lot better. Really was never a fan of the artists work.
Best Star Wars comic I can think of, (ok I'm going to list 2),
Boba Fett: Agent of Doom: One shot, Illustrated by Cam Kennedy (he did Dark Empire), same style, but the colouring is just so much more amazing than Dark Empire.
Tales of the Jedi: Redemption- Here is an oldie that I almost forgot about (just saw the issues as I was flipping through looking for Agent of Doom). It's a bit of wrap up to the whole Tales of the Jedi comics from many years ago. It catches up with the main characters 10 or so years after the Sith Wars. Gives a great sense of closure I think, artwork was really nice as well. I should try and find a tpb one day if I can.
Started collecting Richard Starks Parker by Darwyn Cooke, I'm enjoying the two tone simple illustrations in it. Very graphic and entertaining.
Also started picking up the tpb's of 100 Bullets, heard a lot of good stuff about it from guys at the store.
SkyDoll- French comic, found an english version from Marvel of the first tpb. I would buy the french version just for the art, but honestly I feel that half the reason to read a comic is for the story. I recommend it.
I love the character and idea of Ghost Rider..but I'll be damned if the whole story-line isn't so messed up they don't seem to know what they are doing anymore.
Jeez, my roommate had all sorts of good comics I enjoyed trying out.
Y- The last Man, great read.
Walking Dead (she had up till, tpb 13 I think?) it was up to date as of when I moved out last year.
Blacksad- Amazing watercolour artwork, anthropomorphic animals, main character (Blacksad) is detective set in post WWII 1950's, very film noire. I wish there was more to get my hands on.
Besides some of the webcomics that I read and support by purchasing their dead tree editions, about the only two comics I read anymore are The Walking Dead (the second 48 issue collection is out, need to remember to pick it up) and Usagi Yojimbo.
Oh and for those that haven't seen it yet...
Amazing Spider-man has ended. Issue #700 just came out and I thought it was pretty good.
Marvel will be doing a new one called Superior Spider-man, which might sound odd, but it actually makes a lot of sense once you read ASM #700. Also at the least I would suggest #699. 698 can be summed up easily, but 699 led in 700 well.
And don't read any spoilers. There is no way to describe #700 without it sounding super tacky. There was a great visual in the comic to really drive the end home that better explains it than in words. And makes me excited to read Superior Spider-man. They just had there 50th anniv issue and I will miss this series.
Also just read the Spider-Island. Pretty much all of it. Really enjoyed that too
