Meh once you pass a certain point say 2K or so the performance stays relatively the same no matter how much more power you throw at it

That desktop is just plain cool from a gadget freak perspective. If I had too much money lying around I'd rather get a Gibson Byrdland guitar for that price. 10,000 dollar guitar versus 10,000 dollar computer. I think the guitar wins out because this $1,000 computer I got two or three years ago still runs modern games after upgrading the graphics card.

Seems a little over the top for a gaming machine. But I will say that if it has a multilane eSATA, It is the EXACT answer for my development needs.

My current work notebook is fully maxed running a 5-server network on VM's I really could use 32gb RAM as 16gb hs me losing serious time bringing VM up and down.

You're asking this question in a place that is notorious for people dropping 2k-5k on custom paintball guns. Also the same place where people are constantly "tweeking" and "altering the performance" of their PB guns.

Most of the people on here have other "hobbies" that are pricey and very "performance upgradable"

This is the 1st world. We have the ability to spend money willy nilly if we so chose. a 10k gaming desktop isn't to far from the realm of justifiable.

i know we all have expensive hobbies. i love to go out and shoot hand guns but cost is high too. my point was why pay that price when you can build one just as good or better at lower cost. there are people that will want only the best. but for most people if they do get desktop most do not know how to hand liquid cooling systems or under stand how to maintain one. what if computer has issue to most people they would have field day try to fix them self.

Eh, it's a consumer electronic device. Meaning it's good for a few years and then recycled... never worth it to spend more than you need to in order to get adequate performance.
