Best Camera - $300 Range

Hey guys, I'm looking to get into a bit of photography, I've always liked taking pictures while reffing and would like to invest in a nicer camera. So, 300 dollar range, what's the best? I'm mostly looking for a couple ideas to put me in the right direction. If there is a nicer bang for your buck camera for cheaper, lemme know your suggestions!

Ps, I currently own a Sony cool pix digital camera, but it hardly meets my expectations

And remember, black Friday is coming up too!
Thanks guys

Maybe because its a knockoff? coolpix is Nikon's line of point and shoots. Sony has cybershots.

Maybe look into megazoom cameras? Having the extra zoom makes for better shots from across the field.

We found a Canon Rebel XTI on Craig's List for $250. It was like new. I would keep an eye out for a used one!

Oh yeah Sony cybershot is what I meant :p

I was looking into the dslr's, thanks for the advice, it's nice to have a direction to head in

I'll also check Craigslist, I didn't even think of that

This. I bought my XTi with the battery grip an extra battery, the charger and an 18-55 lens for $200. If you're only looking to spend $300 or so if you want to go DSLR go with an older Canon or Nikon and you're set. If you're looking at megazoom cameras Canon makes some of the nicest.

I'd recommend the Nikon D5000. I have one, love it. The tilty screen is handy for taking pictures of my nephew :D

The Nikon D3100 could be a good option too. Nice and small and prices should be pretty low since the D3200 has been out for awhile. Maybe a nice deal on a newer DSLR will pop up over black friday?

Pretty much just buy a used DSLR. Couple pop up here on MCB for sale, ebay is a good place to look and same with your local buy/sell sites...

$300 bucks spent on a used DSLR is a hell of a lot better than buying a new $300 P&S camera.

I have a Cannon Rebel and I love it. Like everyone has said, get a used one if you want to save money.

With a $300 budget, used is your only option. Lenses are going to be a problem if you intend to shoot paintball. The kit lens can only get you so far, and the cheapest telephotos will eat up most of a $300 budget by themselves.
