[update] Laptop Help Needed (ASUS G73JH)?

Hey guys,

I'm looking at buying an Asus G73JH and have heard there are quite a bit of issues with it. Anyone have any good/bad experiences with it and are willing to share? Also, if anyone fixed the issues themselves and still have the files used to fix it (reflashing BIOS and so on) would they be willing to share those, since all the old links were on mega-upload or other sites that got shut down?

So I ended up buying it, and now I'm running into some issues... whenever I try to play games, the GPU just keeps heating up until it eventually crashes. This kinda defeats the point of buying a gaming computer unless I can fix it. Any ideas on what the issue is? I want to say it is the fans. If it is, how dangerous would it be to blow compressed air into the exaust/intake vents. is this a bad idea or...?

Here's the log from when I ran FURMARK. Hopefully this can help to some extent...

I got the g75 vw. Maxed out the settings and bots on forgotten hope 2. Hardly any heat coming out the back.

Love the computer to death. SSD are amazing. Can never go back.

I reccommend the computer I got. I don't know about the 73.

Any chance that you've tried planet side 2 on it? If so how'd that run? Also, ar ethe hard crashes because the system can't handle it or because it is a glitchy system?

Well, things like GPUs start to get too hot above 80c and according to your FURMARK log you hit 108c, so it seems to have gotten a little hot. If the laptop is new it might be "burning in" and will have cooler temperatures after a period of time. I'd still try to contact ASUS about it anyways just in case.

Contact asus about it. More likely than not its going to be an issue. I've had laptops with overheating gpu s before and it sucks. Not much you can do other than a chill pad that won't void the waranty. If that ship has already sailed however you can crack it open, replacy the crappy thermal paste with good stuff, and even add more copper heat sink to the mix.

Honestly the best thing to do is contact asus and hope for a replacement.

Oh I forgot to update this. I blew out the fans with a can of air (just blowing it from the external entryways, not by taking it apart) and now it runs at a toasty 80-84 while running games, which is still a bit hot, but not unbearable...
