Film Canon's

After putting a roll of film through my yashica, and having the film winder break without any repair(and thus wasting a roll of film with about a months worth of shots), I'm looking for a new film SLR.

I would like the camera to accept all the canon EF lenses, as I already have a lot of nice glass I wouldn't mind using with this camera.

The camera would obviously need all the manual controls, build quality is desirable, but I'm not dead set against a plastic camera as long as it works well.

Any suggestions?

If you're willing to spend cash look into an eos 1v basically the film version of the 1d. if not can't go wrong with a rebel k2

A buddy of mine has a 1v. Maybe if I go the route of pursuing more film I'll pick one up, but right now that's just a LITTLE out of my budget.

How about the Elan 7?

the Elan 7 is a great camera as well. Basically the last film SLR Canon made before the digital Rebel's and the full frame 1D series fully took over. if you can grab one for cheap go for it.

EDIT: Just found an Elan 7 body on ebay for 75 but the shipping is $30

also given you have a 2.8 IS lens you could buy an EOS 1N that's essentially the same as the 1V for cheaper (about $230) the 1V will do cross type center AF with F4 and faster lens the 1N requires F2.8 which you have so it might be worth looking into

Link to 1N

Reason I'm saying look at a 1N is not only is it cheap for a high end film rig but if you have the glass why not stick a decent body behind it that has the AF sensors and shutter speed to use it.

Rebel 2000 bodies can be purchased for less than $40 at most used retailers like ken, adorama, etc. Élan and 3 bodies run about 125 to 225]. The 1N bodies run 200-300 depending on version.

My last film body prior to moving to digital was a 2000 and aside from feeling plasticy (since it was), it made great photos. It wasn't built for speed like some of the 1 bodies, but did fine for what I was doing: portraits and landscapes.

that's true Ballyhoo Rebel bodies are cheaper than dirt at most places. Heck I just checked Henrys up here in Canada and I could buy a rebel K2 in excellent shape for $45 and that was in 8+ condition with a warranty for a year included. Reason I'm saying Josh should look at the 1N or 1V body is for for the AF speed and such it offers basically what I'm saying is drop decent money if shooting film and you can have the film equivalent of the $7000 1DX for less than 1/20 the price.

I have a K2 and love it, actually just put film through it yesterday. I was considering the T2 at the time but I couldn't pull the trigger on it moneywise. Both the K2 and the T2 can be had rather cheaply now that digital is the prefered format.

Iīve got the eos 500 (Rebel XS). It has all the necessary modes, but itīs all plastic.
That said, itīs really light and the pics are all same regardless of the body.

I use mine mainly as a landscape camera with Samyang 14mm,
you have a hard time finding wider angle, with that image quality, for that kind of money.

Or mount a 50 1.8 and have a light bar hopping camera that you can afford to break or get stolen.

I would like to try the eye focus found on better bodies, I think 50E is the cheapest to have that.

I think I have one to sell. I'll look. I forgot the model. More pro features than the rebel. Same era.
