Otterbox Tablet Cases - Are they worth it?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some input on tablet cases. I have my eye on an Otterbox but I've never used one before. Are they worth it and are they as durable as they claim?

Also, I haven't been able to find much info on the built-in screen protector. Is there any "play" ( or gap? ) between the film and the touch screen or does it fit right on it? I had an ipod case that was like this. There was a noticeable gap between the screen and the protective film which made navigating the screen nearly impossible. I'm looking to avoid that this time around.

I'm looking at this one.

Otterboxes are top notch. I've never heard of a problem with them.

I had a Defender on my iPhone for a month or so before the silicone start to tear apart. The design of the flip covers for the iPhone Defender don't seem to take kindly to people using them often, the earphone cover tore allowing the entire silicone band to fall off.

I use one on my galaxy, got it on ebay for like 20 brand new as opposed to 50. Fits perfectly. The screen protector kind of takes away from the beauty of the screen though but it fits perfectly. I have heard people cut out the screen protector and add a nicer screen protector directly to the screen.

I always break them, Otterbox always sends me a replacement. That said, I've yet to damage a phone inside one of their cases.

I've had an Otterbox Defender case on my Motorola Xoom tablet for almost 2 years now. Sure, it TRIPLES the thickness of the device, but it is well protected.

Plus, the cover doubles as a stand.

Loved my iphone one, not liking my galaxy s3 one, I've had it 2 months before the rubber started streching to the point where it wouldnt stay on the snaps anymore.

I've gone through 4 otterbox cases on my phone and one on a tablet, the rubber/plastic they use just falls apart! I switched to the Survivor case on the tablet and it is holding up perfectly. Otterbox does have some great customer service and will continue to replace your case at no charge. they get 5 stars for customer service but i just got tired of having to call in for a new case every 6 months.

Just wondering and slightly off topic, why are you guys removing the cases/silicon so much? For me once it's on, it only comes off if I need to get my MicroSD card out. On my iphone 4 it never came off
