| MCB Member | Alright... I need a new phone
Classic question... Need some ideas for a new smartphone as my last one died a few months ago (massive over abuse living on a bicycle in Australia) and wouldn't work on Canadian networks anyway. Here's what I'm after: - Not a Iphone - Touchscreen - Under 300 bucks full buyout price or so (I don't go on contracts as I'm usually out of country 3/4 of the year) - Unlocked, I have 2 phone numbers (Canada/USA) - Smartphone My usage on the phone is moderate. Its my primary entertainment at work (mostly reading online newspapers), Skype (cheaper that directly calling overseas), road maps and tethering for data usage for my computer. Borderline just considering just getting a smaller tablet with a 3G slot. Prefer a removal battery.... |

You can get a Nexus 4 for a good price, I think somewhere around $250 and thats brand new. Unlocked and everything. Nexus 4 - Google Only hard part is getting it while they are in stock. I have a Galaxy Nexus and love the phone, battery life kinda sucks but you should be able to get them cheap now that they are kinda being replaced by the other newer phones. Its a great phone if you like to tinker with your phone and put new roms and such on them. Nick |

Samsung Galaxy S2X if you can find one in stock. Right around the $300 mark. Unlock codes are around $20. 16GB memory with micro SD expansion. 8MP camera with flash and runs Android 4.0 though I hear the 4.1 update is coming. if you're looking for a 3G tablet take a look at the Galaxy Tab with 3G. it could do everything (ie be a phone and a tablet offers tethering and putting custom roms on is easy as pie) If you look around people are dumping them used but mint shape at around $140

I've become a huge Windows Phone fanboy of late. The new Windows 8 is awful slick.

Im in need of new phone as well and have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro. It's a toned down version of the Galaxy S3 processor but makes up for it with its durability (water proof, crush proof, shock proof, etc....)
