Wifi signal booster

I work in a very large building some may call it a "stadium" and the wifi is all but dead once I get to back to my "office". Is there a device like a repeater or booster that I can place in or near my office to boost the signal for me? Or amplify it and I plug into the amp? My work will probably not help me in any way on my quest to get more internets so all I have is the wifi password to work with, the office next door tried to run a wifeless router off their hardline but the "man" made them turn it off, we do not have a hardline in out office.

Thanks for any help,

Chris

P.S. do you think I used the "Quotes" to much?

If you only need 802.11G get a bunch of wrt54g used and load dd-wrt. I have 1 in repeater mode and it works great.

In terms of wifi, you have a few options. But, I'd need a bit more information before I could give specific advice.

For example, what kind of wifi are we talking about here? 802.11B/G/N?

What kind of hardware do you have at your end? How many client PCs? What kind of network connections do they have (802.11?, Ethernet, etc)?
