microsoft studios creative director pissed off the internet

basically he tweeted supporting an always-online (online-required, basically) video game console, then went totally elitist on people who complained about wanting to play their xbox even when the internet goes down.

then he turned off his linkedin and twitter accounts, so much for always-on lol. :ROTFL:

the other guy in the twitter conversation, manveer heir, works for bioware.

then on reddit an ex-coworker of adam came out and said something too.

details in the link Microsoft Studios' creative director has some choice words about always-online - NeoGAF

I've heard about this but never actually looked at it... I'm kind of pissed now. What a great reason... "deal with it"

I'm kind of at a loss for words.

Hopefully the new Xbox won't be "always-on"... that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard from a console developer.

Orthy sounds like one of those hipster, "what you think is wrong and what I think is right" types.

Honestly the way the major players in the video game industry have been acting lately has encouraged me to invest in board games.

The beauty of board games?

No DRM!
No Crashes!
If something breaks, I can fix it myself with a reasonable stand in for little effort.
I don't need to keep buying a new table every year or two to play the latest releases!
If I have a teenaged boy yelling racial slurs at me during a game, I get to punch him in the face and kick him out my front door!
If I disagree with a design decision of a developer, I can ignore the rules and write my own version that plays better.

So how long until he issues an "apology" or tries to pass it off as a joke?

He apparently closed his Twitter account and has allegedly been fired (hopefully).

Loved that gif. If microsofts new console requires this 'always on' BS, I'll probably end up buying a ps4.

Same here when I do get around with upgrading to the new console after it comes out I won't be purchasing any "Always On" home gaming system.
