Xbox One presentation

Who just saw it? I like the hw, not impressed by all the old titles they dug up. And was annoyed at the extensive EA butt kissing they did.

E3 will give a better idea of what's going on, this was more of a stopgap announcement. Though I'm kinda sad they neglected to mention NHL 14 for the next gen.

I find it funny that the Xbox One and PS4 have pretty much the same specs.
  • 8 core AMD CPU
  • 8 GB RAM (the PS4 is using GDDR5, the Xbox using DDR3)
  • Blu-ray/DVD
  • HDMI
  • Multiple USB 3.0 ports

The only thing that's really still up in the air is whether or not the Xbox will use an AMD GPU. If it does the two consoles will be just about the exact same thing.

No backwards compatibility
One installation per disc
Must pay for second installation
Must have kinect

I think I'll pass on this one.

Did they announce price? I didn't hear anything about it but maybe I missed it. I don't see how it could be cheaper than a PS4 though if they have similar specs and the Xbox is going to include the Kinect.

Specs mex..... its all about the content about 70% of the time. Who gets exclusive access to this... who has this franchise that....

Thats what its going to boil down to in making a decision more or less.

If you arent swayed by content then its going to be based on what your friendbase has so you can continue to stay connected with them.

Looks like I won't be gaming online in the future... Sounds like this console is a joke.

D3adpool 05-21-2013 02:59 PM

Even that might be tough. I give them a year after release before Microsoft (and Playstation) fully transition over to next gen games / titles.

Soon most content / titles will be streamed online. Gamestops would either cease to exist or would have to revamp the way they do business altogether.

/mad man rant.

In my opinion that's the way to go, unless you don't have access to decent internet regularly of course. If titles go to downloads only and there is the ability to trade titles and whatnot then there wouldn't be a need for Gamestop. In essence a Steam for consoles I guess. On the downside that would suck for Gamestop and the employees.

D3adpool 05-21-2013 03:18 PM

I cant feel sorry for Gamestop lol.... they would buy my game for $5 and sell it back for $30+.

Employees yes... Corporation no. But they see the trends. They knew it is / was coming. What are you doing in the meantime to stay current? I have no clue.

Oh the other reason why I said they are going to shift immediately (or shortly thereafter)to next gen titles is because the last installment of these consoles were 2005/2006. Prior to that the next gen was in play every ~5 years (Playstation 2 = 2000, Playstation 3 = 2006 / Xbox = 2001, Xbox 360 = 2005....I think). These platforms are long overdue. The economic crisis put the freezer hold on releasing them.

They are hoping to monetize these as quickly as possible with the assumption that we all are craving badly the newer consoles and would switch over as quickly as possible.

The only way they can do that is with releasing content and phasing out the old gen games / support.
