After losing a battle because half my army randomly ran halfway across the map when I had the superior force in a fortification in Shogun 2 made me swear off buying another Total War game till I heard they were reasonably reliable.
It's hit or miss, sometimes units will behave properly and scale walls and such but other times they'll get stuck on walls or will opt to go over a latter instead of through an open gate. Your own and enemy formations can get all screwed up causing units to seemingly go nowhere while chasing them or charging, but I've only seen this happen once. The biggest glitch that I've (frequently) come across is not being able to siege cities on the campaign map, the "area of denial" sort of bubble that the garrisoning army projects won't even let my units in, and if they do get in they can't siege, or Generals will go all the way out to see instead of walking 2 feet to attack a city right next to them.
