Usually on those rating sites, when you rate the picture it takes you to the next one.

Russ: Usually it does, but I not only want this to be a rating site, but also just a viewing/showoff site. I know that when I view things, I tend to look for a long time, and come back to see if I want to build the same marker; therefore I decided against that feature for this site.

If people ask for it of course, then I can add it in later on.

The way it's set up now a marker may never be rated. Unless the viewer goes to a specific manufacturer, then has to go through multiple pages in that specific manufacturer and happens to see that specific marker on page 4 or 5. Then it can be viewed, but no rating given. The way it is set up will encourage people to cheat. Give the links to their friends in order to rate their marker only.

The way it is now, the top three rated markers will continue to get rated, because they are on the front page. While the rest of the markers go unviewed.

The site should be set up sequentially, and in order to see the next marker you have to submit a rating.

hmm, my vote doesn't seem to track. I've tried rating one particular one a couple of times and it never registers (has 0 votes) using firefox. IE seems to work fine

Nunrleft: I'm contemplating getting rid of the front page top rated, and replacing it with additional random images. And you should be able to rate any image, even one 5 pages back. Unfortunately it's a problem to contend with, as once files begin to pile-up, it's near impossible to give each file it's own chance aside from using random file showings on the main pages.

As for making a user rate it before continuing, while it may be useful for sites specifically made to rate the marker, which obviously is a feature; but I don't want that to be the only aspect available for the website. I'm a fan of wandering around marker galleries, and just looking; forcing a user to rate a picture would personally drive me away from the site.

And for cheating, each user can only vote once, as it is logged via IP. Yes, a user could send the link to all his friends, but each would be only able to do it once.

Really? I was able to clear my cookies and vote multiple times from one computer using the same ip. I also have 4 different unsecure wireless connections which I could connect to with three different computers in my house. I could literally vote 48 times for my own marker using a different ip/computer each time. I really think you need to get the bugs worked out before offering cash for the top rated marker.

Well, it's coded to stop per IP. Must be a kink in it. Bah.

And no worries, no prizes will be given for the top rated marker, tis only for personal gratification purposes only; even if the voting was secure as can be, nothing stops someone from spamming out the voting link.
