Anyone playing/played Lego Star Wars??

I got it for Christmas and am utterly stuck very early in the game. I think we're up to mission 3, which is Amidala and Panaka trying to get off of Naboo, and we can't seem to figure out how to get past the level. We've taken every possible hallway, opened every door we could find, eliminated every battle droid, and claimed every item. There seems to be something with these big "blocks", one of which is hovering above the courtyard. If we jump from above it, we can occasionally land on it, but not stay on long enough to see if that does any good. I really don't want to resort to buying a cheat/hint book, because I know I'll just use that the whole way through. So, anyone who's played this and has some idea what I'm talking about...a little help??

This game is like crack. There is another hallway that you have to go down. The blocks in the middle will just screw you up. You can put in the 2 but that's it. I can go through it again tonight and let you know. If you want.

Hrm...I thought we found all the hallways, but maybe we missed one. I'll have to run through it again tonight. And yeah, we "built" the two blocks in the room with that...uh...whatever that big, cross-shaped thing is and pushed them to the openings in the floor (where they seemed to disappear). After that, that 3rd one appeared by the steps in the courtyard area. Since there didn't seem to be a way to jump onto it from the ground, we tried jumping from above, and, like I said, out of about 30 attempts (running all the way back to the top level), I could "land" on it a few times, but not "stay" on it (thinking that that would do something like make it fall to the ground, where I could push it around).

Also, since we completed the first mission and unlocked all the episodes, we also tried Empire. After about 45 minutes of flying around blowing up AT-STs and probe droids , we got stuck there as well. It's quite frustrating. We tried lobbing bombs at that big gate-type thing, but that did nothing. When your in a vehicle, can you "take over" other vehicles the way you can other characters (droids, Jar-Jar, etc)? Maybe we need to take over a scout walker and use it to open that gate? Just guessing here...

Still trying to transfer the save game files for Lego SW 2 from my lappy to the new machine (funny how nothing is saved the way it says it is in the readme file).

Good luck with it.... and yes here are some hints:

I bought this game for my 8 year old and she/I has completed up to ep5. Some of the levels can be hard to figure out what to do next and some take lots of patience and trial and error. There are things that you will discover that you can't actually do until you unlock it and come back in freeplay with a differnt character.
In Empire where you are stuck with the snowspeeder, you need to harpoon a bomb and drag it to the gate.

My 9yo has this and we play all the time. We are 95% done with it, and Santa brought him LSW2 for X-Mas... Now we play that all the time. He says that level is easy, but can't tell me exactly what you need to do. Maybe we'll have a run-thru of the level and point you in the right direction later... or check gamefaqs.com... always a good source for walkthroughs, etc...

And yeah, there are tons of areas inaccessible in "story mode". To get everything (mini-kits etc) you have to go back in freeplay mode and use characters gained in previous levels to open doors or access new areas.

I played the PC demo and thought it was GREAT. I'm going to get the DS version that has the complete saga!

Loved the first one, always try switching characters and using the force, some levels need specific characters for specific tasks
