I'd do as people above suggested. #1 contact them via phone #2 if they can't provide tracking information cancel the order. There is NO reason that a company shipping an item (they sent you an email saying it shipped) cannot provide shipping information on a $1500 item. I wouldn't ship something that expensive without verification...I would hope any company with any brains wouldn't either. #3 contact JAG. As stated above if a company can't verify shipping information on a product they shouldn't be doing business with AAFES. Maybe JAG can assist on getting their connection to AAFES.com removed.

Here's an update. I called AAFES just a few minutes ago. They had the shipper on the other line while I was on hold. The shipping company Ingram Micro stated that as far as they knew, the product shipped. They were able to tell me that it was UPS. They said that unfortunately, they didn't know the tracking number. Excuse me? I was a little peeved at this, and in no uncertain terms did I tell them exactly that. They responded that they would get in touch with the warehouse to find out, and get back to me within a few hours. This seems like I'm jumping through wayyyyy too many hoops to find a tracking number for something that I already paid for. It appears that the company Ingram Micro is truly horrible and does not have their s*** together. Call me an optimist, but I'm still hopeful (though just barely)...

On the edge of my seat... seriously... So stircrazzzy, what ever happened with the MacBook? I just ordered one from Aafes.com, and saw the same distributor... wondered who the heck they were and googled my way to your post. Doesn't sound good, I hope you ended up getting your computer, or at least getting your money back without too much trouble. Incidentally the aafes.com site now says the MacBooks ship within two weeks, arrive a week after that. I can't argue against the price (on sale, cheaper than even the federal employee price, and no tax/shipping) but I'd hate to be wondering what happened for that long.

Ingram Micro is one of the largest distributors of computer hardware and software in the world. They are a distributor, not a retailer, which is why they can't/won't talk to an end user. You need to be a reseller to order from them because they only sell wholesale. I have been buying from them for many years and have had almost no problems. Your problem is with the seller, they should have never told you where it was coming from, it only adds to the frustration.

Valid. Hmmm (begrudgingly) good point tarakian... the selling company carries the responsibility of ensuring a legit transaction. If AAFES accepts the services of a distributor, they accept the costs and benefits of working with that distributor. They still end up with their name on top of the transaction, up to us to tell them it's a bad partnership (if necessary). Whether stircrazzzy's complaints got AAFES to get better service from Ingram Micro, or this was an isolated delivery problem, we may never know. For anyone who may go the same route as stircrazzzy and I... I never got a tracking number, but received the laptop via FedEx from Ingram Micro today (6 days after ordering). Batting .500 so far... Sincerely, YoAdrian

Yeah, it was apparently a snafu in the ordering and shipping process. Still not sure who's fault it was, but I ended up getting the computer (late) and speaking with the brass at AAFES. They said that they are going to try to avoid situations like this in the future. Not sure if there was any real resolution, I kind of just let it go once I got the computer.
