Need help with EBay issue.

So, I'm not much of an ebay-user. I think I've bought maybe three things with it over the last year - so, I turn to the collective gun-whore wisdom of MCB for advice

Last week, I bought a PGP CO2 nut off of ebay. It was pictured like this:

And described as follows:

"Factory replacement CO2 retention nut !!

Fits PGP. Winner pays $4.50 first class mail shipping with confirmation in the US. US bidders only SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE! WE HAVE TO PAY EBAY A COMMISSION WHETHER YOU PAY OR NOT! Negative Feedback will be left for bad bidders."

I bought it, needing a replacement, and instead got this in the mail yesterday:

Not the same thing. I'm not gripeing that the nut's grip is longer - if anything, that's an unexpected bonus. However, on the other side of the threading, there isn't enough length to hold a 12g in place. Also, as the unit's tapped, it looks like it needs (and once had) one of the spacers found on some PGP nuts. There was no spacer included.

I used the "contact seller" feature yesterday to let the seller know about this - but I haven't heard anything back yet.

At this point, it's not about the money - it was a whole of ten bucks - it's about the principle.

What should I do? How long should I give him to respond before escalating the matter, and what steps should I take? If it matters, I did pay by paypal.

Also, I'm a little unsure how to accurately and succinctly describe the problem here.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance all!

if you got all of the parts it would have been a deal but your definitely missing a piece. I would contact the seller and give a day or two to respond. Unless you bought it from a store or power seller i would expect faster communication. I believe you only have 30 days to file a claim so i would get the ball rolling on that if you don't get your response soon.

Those are a nice upgrade, but you're right; it is missing the cup needed to make it actually work. Great if you already have a plug and can transfer the cup over, useless if you didn't already have one.

I'd give him 3 days. After that, send him another message and tell him that you will be filing a claim with pay-pal and leaving him negative feedback if he does not respond within 3 more days. If he chooses not to respond, file a claim through pay-pal.

He's both a store and a power-seller.

There is an option to file a claim based upon the fact that the item is completely different from what was advertised. File a claim and see if he responds. If not then escalate it.

Not sure when they switched to the one piece style... was that used on the 2k1 + PGPs ?

I bought a bunch of those extended ones a while back on closeout for $1.99 each I think. It was definently not a "factory replacement part". They need the old style cup that screws on... You can kind of make it out in the vintagerex scan..

Hopefully they just didn't know exactly what they were selling and will make it right!

wait for his reply first, there is a very good chance it was a mixed up with shipping.

What's a reasonable amount of time to give him? My Ebay-fu is weak.

Update:

So this guy never gets back to me through ebay. I go to paypal and file a dispute:

"Hi,I bought a PGP CO2 nut listed as "Sheridan Paintball Gun CO2 NUT STOCK CLASS PGP" and pictured as an original, base style CO2 nut.I received the elongated CO2 nut, however, this style of nut requires an aluminum "cup" to hold the 12g in place. I don't mind the substitution, except that it's impossible to use as it's missing that cup.I'd like to either exchange this piece for what I originally ordered, be provided with the cup and mounting screw, or have my money, including shipping, refunded.

Thank you,

Mike [Last Name Edited Out]"

And he responds with

"the auction states clearly that it is drilled for mounting of the cup, but does not include the cup. read it...."

Now, what pisses me off is that I did read the text of the auction. In fact, I posted the entire text of the auction above.

Perhaps the text for what I got describes that fact (which it does). The problem is that what I got is not what I bought.
