| I Am The Admin | Amazon Kindle???? Check it out: Amazon.com: Kindle: Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device: Kindle Store It looks like a BOOK in electronic form. Now there's been a LOT of paperless books, but this one has finally caught my attention. I can download books, and read blogs and websites anywhere, since it uses a cellular phone system. Very interesting. I may seriously pick one up. Thoughts?

| Let me know how well it works if you get one... I saw it the other month, but the price tag still scares me a little. E

| The most serious e-reader to date, and I would definitely pick it up... if I travelled a lot and had $400 to spend on books. As it is, I travel very little, barely read anywhere but at home, and can barely afford to fling paint once a month, so $400 is right out in my budget, so it doesn't make sense for me to go after one. Having said that, if you have the spare $$$ and a need for an e-reader, this is the one I'd suggest to anyone to go after. It looks like Amazon has put serious thought not only in the product itself, but also into the support system for it. And no monthly charge!

| Its cool tech, but I like books in book form. Plus no color screen for illustrations is a downside (been reading a lot of tech / gun books, images help)

| Very cool idea, but I would have to see how the screen looks in person before dropping that kind of change. My eyes can't stand reading a computer screen for long periods of time, so I haven't gotten into the whole e-Book thing yet. I don't think it would work to well for tech/reference type books. As Azzy said, no color screen, but the screen is also too small, and you can't look at two pages at once. For novels though, it seems pretty handy. With books, you can keep them around forever as long as you don't abuse them. With the DRM on these, you can't even copy the files off to a hard drive (without cracking the drm) to load elsewhere if this product or service dies 5 years down the road. I guess DRM isn't the end of the world, but I'd just rather not have to deal with it. It also has no direct support for other file types. I would think this would be great for business users who want to review a PDF file on a plane without having to dig out their laptop. The price is a bit high for me, but I could see an avid reader saving enough in a fairly short period of time to make it worthwile. I'll be waiting to see what generation 2 brings.

| MCB Member | I look at screens long enough. I'm happy with analog books.

| My wife is sitting next to me reading a book on her Kindle right now. She ordered one about 4 hours after it went on sale. She loves it. The screen isn't like a computer monitor. It is "eInk". It is no harder on the eyes than a regular book. As I understand it, the technology is kind of like an etch-a-sketch. Once the "ink" is put on the screen, it doesn't require any battery power to maintain it. Pretty cool. I wouldn't say it is all roses, though. Navigating the menus to search for books isn't 100% intuitive or fast, but you can buy books for only a few bucks and download them anywhere in a few minutes. |

| I have one and I love it . . . I tend to be reading a couple few books at a time, and I find it a lot easier to do with the Kindle. And its easy to bookmark what you are reading then export that text file. the screen reads like print . . . even in bright daylight
