Comcast, FCC, and Bit Torrent

For those of you who insist on using a bit torrent client that's easily identified by your ISP....

Well, its just a matter of time before the current internet collapses from all the data (video and sound) that it wasnt meant to handle.

Plus, US providers are sorely behind in speed and quality of connections.

Absolutely true!....I think mainly because technology doesn't play a key role in the bulk of our recreation. (vs places in Asia, etc)

Comcast should have been hammered for their behavior. Sending out falsified packets is essentially electronic terrorism. If an individual was doing this it would be illegal and they'd be getting but-slammed by bubba right now.

Its shameful, but its not much different then when Sony was selling CDs that had a rootkit virus PURPOSELY installed.

Illegal? Clearly in both cases.

But the "big media", either Comcast, or Sony, have very powerful, and well funded lobby groups. I'm sure they argued to there congressmen that they are allowed to "break the law to catch law breakers".

Sad. I'm pretty fortunate that Roadrunner has not killed its Usenet feeds yet.

Not for long. Comcast is releasing Doscis 3(they call it Comcast 3.0) by years end with residential speeds upwards of 100mbps.

True, but they're only predicting that it will be available to 20% of their subscribers by the end of 2008.

...and Comcast doesn't have the best track record for meeting deliverables or controlling costs to end users.
