Im waiting for Wii Fit to come put before I buy another Wii game. I already have a ton. Do you know if Mario Kart Wii is in any way shape or form compatible with Mario kart ds ?

I can tell I need to experiment more with different vehicles and characters. I'll try to do some testing to see what I can squeeze the fastest lap times out of. I set some quick (for me anyway, and they were above average in the rankings) laps with Yoshi on the bike last night, so I'll try Yoshi on a cart tonight on the same tracks and see how the times compare. Then I'll try King Boo and see how he compares on the same vehicles. There aren't enough hours in the day. This is the most effective time black hole I have encountered in a while. ... or maybe I should

Oh great..the wife loves Racing games and has been complaining we haven't been using the Wii enough. If we get this stimulus package she will prolly pick up a copy. If that happens I guess you guys can embarrass me online. =P

The only thing I really miss from Double Dash is being able to hold multiple items in battle mode. A great game so far. The steering wheel worked alright, but I felt much more at home with the remote and nunchuk combo.

I see Birdo made it into the game this time around so I wonder how she handles.
Birdo is actually a gender confused dude.

As in my last post, I think MKW is essentially "MKDS v2.0"

They added the bikes and changed the boost mechanics - I think for the better. Whereas with MKDS the fastest thumb wins, MKW actually rewards good racing technique. Line up the turns, hold your line, slide into, boost out (rather than jump, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, jump, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, jump, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle...)

I was never fond of snaking anyhow, though I could do it on many tracks. I used Mario in standard ROB, too, which is unusual because most snakers used DB/PG3k. I was still only a two-star racer, though.

MKW changed most things for the better. They kept the best maps from the series, added some really great new ones, changed others around just a bit to be compatible with the new mechanics and put in some neat new items (namely the super mushroom from NSMB DS). MKW is everything MKDS was and better. The WiFi is better, the multiplayer is better (12 karts as opposed to just 4), the time trial and ghost sharing system is excellent (want to see how the top ranked driver got his time? download the ghost data and race against it!) and really is just a nicer, more polished game both graphically and control-wise.

The sensitivity on the Wiimote is exactly where it needs to be. It's not too sloppy, it's not too tight. You can control where you want to go without much over or understeer after you get the hang of it - which only takes a few laps if you're a MK veteran. Additionally, you can steer by tilting the controller either left-right or up-down. That is, the steering works both if you have the top of the controller facing up (as you would normally hold it - think Excite Truck) or facing you (as in a steering wheel). The control system is simple and everything is within reach of normal-length thumbs.

I think this is the best game the Wii has out right now.

I picked up Mario Kart on Sunday, and I have to agree that it's the best Wii game out there right now.

Better than Smash Bros, but can't compare to RE4, totally different(but excellent) game

Did some comparisons last night, and at my skill level (not that great IMO) the Mach Bike in automatic drifting mode blows the doors off the standard cart, even with manual drifting and mini-turbos (easier to pull off on the cart). King Boo might have an edge on Yoshi for some tracks, but they are both fast on the comparable bike.

Shaved some seconds off my personal bests last night (and this morning before work). I think I'm addicted.

Last night I had some trouble connecting to the WFC for the first time. Perhaps more people are picking up the game and overwhelming Nintendos servers. Could have been my ISP too for all I know. It failed to connect three attempts in a row and then I gave up. That is the first problem I've had and it was back in service this morning.

Manual is the way to go, I love drifting.

Only problem is its kinda hard to focus on racing fast yet being close enough to the pack so you dont get nailed by one of thoughs stupid Blue death shells. In alot of ways your probly better to just beat on people in the back till the final lap, that seems to get me a decent place on most tracks. I havent played WiFi I just want the maps and charactors for now, I do like the time trial thing though.
