As a PC based gamer I think that consoles have the advantage in the release of new titles. I want to play GTA 4 but have to wait until it is released in a PC version, and who knows when that will be.

Two different kinds of gamers folks.

Always have been, always will be.

That's not to say that there isn't a bit of crossover, but I'll bet you'd be hard pressed to find someone who spent their time 50-50.

PC gaming isn't dead. Console's aren't becoming PC's even though they can now do a lot of things that PC's do. It's not the hardware, it's the philosophy, and that's not changing at all.

I agree it's the user created content that makes me a PC user.

Consoles are almost gaming PC's now, but not quite.

What they need to do is make a console OS so that I can use my PC to run the PS3 OS that doesnt rape my system resources. Then I can be a console gamer, except on my PC.

Consoles are 80 percent or more PC right now. Eventually it will be so watered down that no one will know what is what.

As it stands, for 400 dollars in a console you get a lot more problem free gaming then you do in a PC. Average users will always prefer consoles, for good reasons.

Console gaming is easy, and I feel like the average person will see less cheating in the games themselves. PC gaming has tons of cheating, and really has no advantage over most newer consoles in most game formats. With a keyboard and mouse you have more buttons, the newer controllers have lots of buttons, and work fine for most games. You also have to look at the fact that many people never will not spend the money for a good gaming PC. I am getting ready to order a new computer and can get a pretty decent one with 22" monitor, quad core processor for less that a grand. A PC capable of serious gaming will start at 2 to 3 times that to have the best stuff. I think its a money issue more than anything.

What I'm really looking forward to is cross platform online play. CoD4 would be even better if I could play with folks on the 360/PS3.

Consoles are only good for sports and driving.

I could not agree more. I can not get used to controllers. Give me a Nostromo for my left hand and a good mouse for my right.

But really when one graphics card costs as much as a ps3 makes me wonder why I bother upgrading, renewing and refurbishing my already aging computer hardware. I bought my 8800gt after my 5 yr old but heavily overclocked 7600gt gave out mere months ago. Now the 9800gt is set to hit the marker. Dual core might become a thing of the past within a year, with the arrival of octo-core (yes 4 dual core chips on a mobo).

Buying a ps3 will let you play games for years (how long did the ps2 last? ) with only minor software upgrades available for free.

Why do pc gamers bother anymore?

Agreed. WHen it'll cost me $2k to properly overhaul my PC (only real way to upgrade it now.....all it's internals went obsolete since 939 pin standard became a thing of the past), sorry, but no. My PS3 is fantastic and does what a next gen computer gaming system would.....but cost me far less and looks incredible. The choice wasn't hard.
