| MCB Member | I do both types of gaming. I use to be a hardcore console gamer up until about 2 years ago, when I bought a gaming computer. Made me realise how many compromises a console makes to run a game. Games on PC's run way superior than on any console system (generalized statement BTW). PC's can be a pain in the butt though, with all the maintaince involved in keeping the machine running properly. Consoles are definalty a lot simpler for the average user. I swear though, my PS3 gets more updates than Windows XP.....

| likes been said, it goes through sprees. though i don't think it'll quite have as much to do with the age of the consoles (or at least not only) but with the tastes of the gamer. for a while RTS was THE style to play, and you simply couldn't do that on a console. then FPS became the rage, and untill halo, the console controls were too slow, too imprecise, too few command buttons. as consoles have evolved they've gotten faster response, more buttons, more ability to do complicated tasks that PC users have taken for granted for years. right now it seems the pc market is in a slump, which it isn't in terms of actual pc gaming. just look at WoW, is there any game out there with more constant players then that? what PC gaming is lacking currently is lots and lots of new titles like the consoles. but if you're into MMO's, RTS, flight sim, or you're one of those who wants to squeeze every bit of quality out of a FPS, PC is still easily the way to go. me, I can't afford to set up a desktop gaming rig capable of running crysis (from what I've gathered, the current ultimate example of whether your comp has the chops) so for those games I accept an uglied down version of a game that I'll actually be able to play vs the prom queen version that I can't play (same as it ever was) but it IS an uglied down version vs the PC. I'd not even bother with a consol RTS or Sim or MMO. oh sure consoles now have keyboard/mouse add ons, but lets get real, people are sitting in comfy chairs in front of a tv on average 6-8 feet away from them, not at a desk where the kb/mouse combo is designed for. at some point tastes will switch and they'll want something more complicated that requires the versitility of the PC vs the ease and speed (ie. push powerbutton game turns right on) of consoles and the shift will swing back the other way.

| I grew up with nes and snes, then i got into pc gaming till 2001 when the xbox came out. ill never look back to pc games really...not worth upgrading my pc 500$ just to run the 1 new game i might play on it. The mouse and controller debate is all on the user. give me a controller in almost any game and i can still whup you. Pc gaming is LONG dead to me. all the c&c games are out for 360 now, its really only crysis thats stayed exclusive to the pc side.... argue it all you want but its like saying that mags are still top dogs in the pb world...yeah they are, but its a niche market and doesnt make money. Sony=Smart parts

| Seasoned Member | I was a hardcore pc gamer. Mouse + keyboard >> controller any day (especially for fps). I got a PS3 for the console RPGs that never came to PC. then I realized that I would NOT be able to make the leap to the latest generation of PC games without the $2k overhaul. So, I was kind of forced into console gaming, and though critical at first, I grew to accept it. It's totally doable and consoles these days can make GREAT fps platforms, as well as many other kinds of games. And I say this now being a denizen of both worlds.

| I cannot play a FPS with a computer. The only games I keep a decent PC for are the Mechwarrior games.

| The Brown Guy! | Sony does NOT equal Smart Parts. Thats plain offensive. Which console is the one that keep breaking down due to manufacturing shortcuts? Thats right! Xbox360!! I regret having built my PC, and may yet sell it. its a hard decision though, since my laptop is a budget model at best and I would be left without a powerhouse PC for college. However, I will be dropping $450 on a PS3 bundled with MGS4 in June. I just bought GT5: Prologue today. Amazing. Love it. My friend lets me play his PS3, and wont be moving until the end of June.. so I get to play the game early. yay!

| I prefer PC gaming. For a console you have to buy a nice TV, the console, the extra controllers, the tv stand, and honestly the only thing I would use said really pricy TV for would be watching movies and playing videogames. Which paying 800+400 for the PS3, + games, + controllers, doesn't make any sense to me when I can just spend that on a Computer that I will get more use out of anyways. |

| I disagree. Nothing beats 50" of HD Plasma Flatscreen, surround sound and Xbox 360. Park yourself on the couch with your favorite frosty beverage and enjoy.
