Couple Computer Questions

How do the new Core 2 Centrino's stack up against a regular Core 2 Duo? The old centrino's left a bad taste in my mouth and I am wondering if the new ones are much better.

Also what the heck is Intel Robson Technology - Turbo Memory Module?

Need to get a new laptop, OSX is nice but too many apps that I need are Windows only and my Macbook isn't going to take to running Windows well.

I'm running a Centrino Duo in my laptop, and it kicks ass. It's been running without a single hiccup for damn near 2 years straight, with heavy use every day, multiple flights across the country, abused, toted to class 5 days a week 8 months a year...they're beasts.

Nope, still don't care for Smart Parts.
Gimmie a few minutes alone with the Palmer catalog and I'll get back to you again.

Mine hasn't gone through quite that much, but it works quite nicely. I have statbar running all the time so I can see how it runs and the CPU only bogs with video conversion programs (xilisoft).

Got a Centrino Duo in one of my new laptops, only had it for a few months so far but no complaints yet....and I can ALWAYS find something to complain about on the laptops they give me here!

"Turbo Memory", as I understand it, is basically a cache of flash memory, which some OS's (Vista) uses as a cache between the processor and HDD. Frequently used data from the hard drive is cached in the faster flash memory for use, THEN written to the disk. Should, in theory, drastically speed up operations that would normally require lots of disk IO.
