Mp3 Editing

I have some pod casts and I'd like to cut up and edit to fit my player, but can't find a free one. Anyone know of any?

Thanks!

Audacity is probobly the most well known, and feature rich FREE MP3 editor.
I use it to tweak audiobooks to work well with my IPOD.

There is a long list at dvdrhelp.com in the tools/audio section.

Super Converter is also very handy if you just want to lower the compression, or change formats. I just put on the audiobook for "SHOGUN" on my IPod. Originally, the file was a staggering 65 Gigabytes!! Trimmed down, its merely 1 gigabyte now.

Check out WavePad.
They have a free and pay version...so poke around their site to make sure you're grabbing the right one.

Very basic and totally free editor. Ideal for quick stuff like cut/paste/chop/increase/decrease volume.

There's also a neat version of Audacity at PortableApps which runs install-less from a thumb drive or regular directory. I don't use it often enough to have a strong opinion either way...it just sits on my portable apps thumb drive for when I need it in a pinch.

(apologize for the OT'ness) I love that book! I've been helping one of my fighters get his samurai armour together (his kozane looks freaking awesome) and been thinking I need to pick up a new copy of "Shogun" as my last copy disintegrated into several chunklets of paperback.

The audiobook was a staggering 70 CDs! Thank god for IPods.
I used to read all the time, but all my free time vanished 8 years ago (kids, family, work, etc). Now all my "free time" is driving an hour to work, and back.

Have you read the other Shogun books? I believe the author wrote a few others, but I've never had the time.

I never could get into audiobooks - I don't commute far enough and the 20 minutes I listen to my Sansa every day I run, I need something far more up tempo than an audiobook to get me through the 2.5-3 miles of running.

Yeah, Clavell wrote a bunch of novels dealing with the intersections of Eastern and Western cultures, but they were all set in different times. At least, that is what my brain is telling me, as I never read any of the others, just Shogun. Will have to look into rectifying that.
