  | CD drive not working. Ok few months back the wife and I bought a couple of new Vista boxs. Now this isn't your usual Vista sucks blah blah blah thread. Every thing has been working (more or less) fine with the wifes box until tonight she tries to install a couple of games. The drive has worked fine up until now. Now the computer gives her the message "This device can not start {code 10}" what the hell does this mean? Do I have to crack the case unplug the drive and plug it back in? Do I have to find and update some drivers for it? Is it a bios fixable issue? Any advice?

| Just a basic CD ROM or a special CDRW or something? Vista should have drivers for everything built in. Try rebooting, and check that the drive is being found in BIOS. You may have to shuffle around drive letters or something. You didn't change any jumpers on the drive itself by any chance, or plug it into a different cable?

Something got blown out on the last MS update. ast180-ua380b is the model and it isn't even on the acer website.
