I don't see one w/o possibly opening the case. There might be some PW recovery tools available. I will have to do some research.

Have you called Dell?

Does it have a floppy drive? You might be able to flash the bios and wipe it out.

There has to be a jumper to reset it. I will talk to our tech in the morning.

I remember my old ASUS. It was short 2 solder points on the mobo while simultaneously plugging it in and powering on, what a PITA.

Try doing an F12 boot and just picking the CD?

BTW, which password is set? There's a disk password, an admin password and a system password.... I didn't think it was possible to lock just one BIOS setting (boot order). I suspect you have one of the three set.

Disk password is easy to kill. If that's set, LMK and I can help.

If one of the BIOS passwords are set, depending on the BIOS version..etc you can probably kill it... here's some info I grabbed about site with a bootable CD that supposedly kill it. Haven't tried it though.

If it isn't under warranty anymore open up the case and pull the coin cell batteery out, wait 20 mins and bios is wiped back to system start is how we used to clear them out. Just make sure you know what to set everything back to after wipe (ie write down settings) Most of the settings such as HD CD RAM etc should be auto detect.

A mother, who had just watched her son and his friends play paintball, admonished the field owner. "If you gave all of them flags, they would get along better and not shoot each other."

That doesn't always work, but is worth a shot.

download this:
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sk...s/latitude.exe.

Go into a command-session (or DOS-box) (on another machine)

Go to the directory with the LATITUDE.EXE program in it

Type in latitude XXXXX and hit enter. You have to substitute XXXXX with your 5-character service tag number. The program then gives you the password.

this should give you the master dell password for your box, this fails on some newer boxes,.
