Hey guys,

I recently picked up one of those LCD picture frame deals for the wife for Mothers days(well she picked it up)). Its the type that takes an SD card and plays the pics on a loop. she wants to hang it up on the wall similiar to a regular picture. The only issue is it had a big cord that plugs it into the wall and looks pretty tacky hung up.

My thought was to take a pack of rechargeable batteries and soldering together some type of rechargeable pack then hooking that into the frame via the proper plug. Does this sound feasible to power a 10" little LCD? Has anyone seen or done anything similar?

Anyways, I dont think making a pack large enough to power it for to long would be cost effective of even light enough nor small enough to hide and not worry about the thing pulling out of the wall. I think the best bet is to cover the wire with one of those strips that you see as the brackets for two pieces of drywall.

My only issue with that is that the cord had one of those big packs on it. Had it been a regular cord I would have just ran it down to the outlet in some of that little white conduit.

Ahh, I see your problem...

Well, if your technical and can manipulate wires you could place the box lower on the wire.

I had the same problem.
I ended up drilling holes into a wall, then through the floor to completely hide the wires.

You would think that these digital picture frames would come with a better solution.
I wish they came, instead, with rechargable batteries that could be just charged once a month or so.

But like said above, they probobly burn through tons of current. The batteries might not last even a day?

Just use an R/C battery pack...

lithium-ion batteries could do the job. they hold TREMENDOUS amounts of power and can distribute that power for very very long periods of time before needing to be recharged. problem is, they are very very heavy and bulky and extremely expensive.

Lithium batteries are the lightest weight batteries around. They are also capable of being the smallest batteries because they hold more charge than other batteries.

They are expensive, and to power a LCD constantly they would need to be colossal. These frames should have included a workable power cord though. I guess they expect them to be placed on a table.

Holy Crap! If you've never owned a hobby grade RC car stay the heck away from them. They are by far deeper money pits than paintball guns if you can believe that's possible.
