Grrrr...Rock Band for the PS2 drops $60 but the 360 version stays the same?

So I got all excited when I walked into Wal Mart the other day and saw the Rock Band bundle for PS2 had dropped $60 to $99. Assuming that the rest of the consoles' versions had dropped $60 as well I made my way to electronics to find the 360 and PS3 versions were still at the original price. So, I'm totally annoyed because I've really been wanting to try out the drums but refused to pay $170 for the set.

Thanks for letting me vent

Are they wireless on the 360 vs corded on the PS2?

And have they ever fixed the issues with the foot pedals for the drum?

Don't know about the drum thing. All the components are wired IIRC except maybe the guitar but I'm pretty sure that was as well.

The PS2 version is different from the 360 and PS3.
In short, the PS2 Rock Band sucks so people aren't buying it, hence the price drop..

All systems are still corded controllers.
Cordless accessories for Guitar Hero will still function with Rock Band but of course, that's limited to just guitars.
Everything that comes in the game pack is corded

The drums have a LOT more issues than just the foot pedal.
All the accessories seem to have serious durability issues.

I really liked the game initially but after about 10 hours of play time, its flaws really become apparent. I'm no longer much of a fan.

Well, I guess I'll save my money even when it does get down to $100. Funny that the whole of the gaming press dissed guitar hero and jumped on the rock band bandwagon on it's release.

What do you expect from those drums... a decent set of real electronic drums starts out at 1200, and thats just for the drums themselves, no module or amp, maybe , just maybe, you'll get a rack with it.

Granted maybe they should have had tyco make them or something, because at the last convention i worked at, ever single rock band set had the drums go out the first evening.

My friends have rock band and we're over there playing it ALL the time and the only thing to fail was the pedal, but not it's actual mechanism so duct tape fixed it just fine. The rest of the drums are still working like they ought to, and the gal who LOVES to drum is hyper as ALL and pounds on those things. They just keep taking the abuse and working perfectly. And those guitars get used really heavilly as well and still keep working fine.

So, from what I've seen (and we've played MANY MANY hours of rock band) the hardware is definitely high grade. Dunno what y'al have been doing to the hardware, but if you use the hardware like its supposed to be used (even heavy use) then it's fine. Abuse it and of course you get broken equipment.

Rock Band is a real Swiss Army Knife of games. It does a lot of things, but none of them particularly well. (IMHO)

It's really fun to play with a group and it's really fun as long as nobody is really serious about it. So long as things stay casual, it's a pretty good game.

Problem is, eventually someone is going to want to really take on a challenge and that's when you run face-first into some glaring hard- and software problems. The vocal tracking can be especially nasty.

The real question is whether it's worth the cost of three good games.

I think that's something that a lot of people haven't taken into consideration with their reviews. Sure, you're getting a lot of hardware but is it quality hardware? I have the feeling that they made this stuff "good enough" just to buy them enough time until they could tweak the formula for Rock Band 2.

The saving grace should be the downloadable content but it too is quite expensive.

To me, it's relegated to a party game that someone else owns. I'm nowhere near hardcore enough to want to buy the thing myself.

Plus it takes up a LOT of room and I like my house clean.

I know that one drum game 9like Guitar Hero) was so popular overseas that Yamaha made an adapter for their electronic kits (with the nice mesh heads) that could be use on the PS2.
