I;ve done the donate/recycle things in the past. I want to help out the locals for cheap. People who might benefit from simply spending 35-40 bucks without being 'super poor' to get it for free through all the channels, nor do I want a write off simply to help some profiteer slinging used chips to China to make toasters with, no offense to those that do, it's a stellar business and saves landfills.

Flea Market.

I'm a vendor at the M.I.T. flea market in Cambridge MA and I get rid of all my old stuff there. I'm sure you have a regular dirt mall somewhere in your area, pay the $35 for a booth and get rid of them all in a day.

thanks, I've thought about that as well.

so it's a fair consensus even though these things are 'doorstops' to us, at super cheap, they might/should/could move?

You shouldn't have any problems moving them at the price point you are looking at. I agree with others though, bag the W2K and put a version of Linux on them. I think Ubuntu just released a version for Ultra Portables that is fairly user proof, makes the PC almost an appliance.

It's a lot of work putting OS's on 20 boxes. They should sell as is for $30 or so a pop. Maybe just give burned linux installer cd with each one.

I can duplicate huge numbers of drives simultaneously from a a single image, then drop in from a stack of possessed licenses, I can even do it with respect to microsponge.
take me more time to screw the drive screws in and test boot them/license then anything else.

As Linux machines they would be still pretty decent machines or simply Craigslist them off for $50 as "Computer for your kids".

A really good way is to get in touch with local charitys - places like battered women's shelters, job re training etc.

They primarily need machines to do resumes, job apllications, searching for jobs etc.

Possibly dump them all at once, make slightly less per box but get a feel good buzz and reduce your hassle overhead.
