roommate has one. what do you guys suggest for a wireless connection? anything in particular? For us it would have to go through a ton of walls to get to our wireless transmitter.

Then you'd want to get a wireless n that has extended range and stay away from netgear products.

OR you could just use ethernet instead.

Yes, Ethernet sounds to be your best solution. How often do you move your console anyhow right? In my experience, for online gaming anyhow, anytime you can wall wire a system you should. You can still always use wireless if you take it someplace else, and the network functions, like shared folder access on your pcs or laptops on the wireless network should still function.

the console won't be moving, but we'd need a ton of wire and probably a power booster to make the distance to the router. far ends of the house, a set of stairs, etc

Can you just get another ethernet router and jack into the phone line?

Not unless the wall jack will run to another outlet jack where you can wire the ethernet to the modem.

So, for wireless router I'd recommend the Apple Airport Extreme router. It's draft n, and has capabilities for robust networks, and linking up multiple routers in an extended network (using one to plug into the modem, and others as full powered access points for devices out of normal range). It's worth the $$. I upgraded to one after using a netgear rangemaster neXt draft n router that crapped out my wireless connection constantly. The apple router is fantastic, and the configuration software (not a browser-based utility) is easy to install both on mac and PC (I have both and have airport configuration utility on both and have used it on both) and blasted easy to use.....and powerful.

This is your best bet for your PS3.

I have one but bought it for the Blu-Ray. I bought it at the start of the year when I had a pipe burst at work and flood the place and worked a ton of OT that weekend. I just bought my 1st game last week. Ninja Gadin. The graphics are awsome but I am not a big gammer so it will mostly be my Blu-Ray player.

You might like some slower-paced (as in, take it at your leisure) games, then.

I'm playing Valkyria Chronicles right now (as well as Resistance 2, Fallout 3, and Farcry 2, and have yet to start on Bioshock), and it's DEFINITELY worth picking up, if just for the animation and artwork. Fully cell-drawn, but amazingly detailed, beautiful and animated. That, and the turn-based strategy is familiar, but at the same time totally new and refreshing (like enemies that fire back when you move through their field of fire, even if they can't move until it's their turn) with real-time combat elements. However, it's a take-it-at-your-pace kind of game that you'd like.

I have one, My PSN: AIDS_

Last game I got was LBP. I really can't afford any games. I can't wait for FFXIII. Too bad it's coming out on the 360 too.

How are the controls on World At War? I had a hard time adjusting to COD4 but that was when I played with full inverted settings. Now I just invert X and Y (up and down right?)

I love world at war, just like cod4 for controls.
I just asked Carteer to sticky us a ps3 network id thread, so if he does, please post you info.
