Waterproofing an MP3 player

I'm swimming multiple times a week in a fairly crowded pool, so I need some sort of personal media device. I've been researching the available options for waterproof MP3 players (My favorite is the NU Dolphin 2gb *) and products that supposedly waterproof existing MP3 players. Now, these aftermarket waterproof kits are very expensive and I'm not sure if I trust them with my precious iPod. So, I want to waterproof a cheap MP3 player.

Does anyone know of this being posted online before? I'm curious of existing information concerning this modification.

My current thought is to purchase one of these:
Unity SuperMini USB MP3 player
and a pair of waterproof ear buds. Then, in Navy Seal fashion, drop it into a condom, twist the condom around the cable and drop glue on the inside of the twist before cutting off the excess condom material. I like this plan, but I'm unsure about the Unity MP3 players quality and the likelihood of being ripped off if it's DOA.

* The sole review for the NU Dolphin on Newegg.com is the worst possible review. He reported two separate units that died during their first use.

iPod Nano 2nd Generation Case // OtterBox.com

I don't see where the ear buds can plug in...but if they do, that is the best option I've seen so far! Thanks for the heads up.

Also, what ever I get will be mounted to my goggle strap. Smaller is better.
