Toshiba Satelite laptop any good?

I am in the market for a Laptop and after looking at Best Buy & Circuit City, I'm leaning towards this Toshiba for $449.

Intel Pentium Dual-Core T3200
• 160GB hard drive
• Built-in 802.11bg wireless• 2GB of DDR2 memory
• Burns DVDs and CDs
• Media card reader

Buy the Toshiba Satellite L305-S5891 15.4" Widescreen Laptop and other Laptop computers at circuitcity.com

What do you think?

They seem decent and Toshiba is generally not "junk".

We wound up getting one for my wife's dad ( he's 83 and impossible to buy for - Xmas, birthdays you know the type. He has everything).
I messed with it a little bit on Sunday but the internet is not set up in the house yet.

Circuit City also has a deal in which you purchase a certain printer, wireless transmitter and virus software for $180 you get $180 back.
They're not what I would buy if I were paying for them, but if indeed they are free...why not.

I haven't dealt with Toshibas in a few years, but they were pretty solid a few years back. At this point most machines are pretty much the same. I am liking gateway because their support people still speak English. I hate dealing with overseas support, it takes hours to have the most basic information covered. To think that laptop would have been like 2 grand a few years ago.

I have had our Toshiba laptop for 4 years now, and it hasnt failed me but once. A simple reload of everything fixed it and its running great now. Havent had to call customer service for any hardware or software issues. Toshiba gets big thumbs up from me.

If you like beating your head off of rocks. Once upon a time, very nice. Now, even their buisness machines seem to be a bad crapshoot.

Go HP, Go Lenovo, Go Acer.

Maybe a better deal here? - HP 530 Notebook PC FH553AT - Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 1.60GHz, 802.11abg WLAN, 1GB DDR2, 160GB HDD, DL DVDRW, 15.4" WXGA, Windows Vista Business FH553AT#ABA at TigerDirect.com

Similar price, nicer processor

I'm on my 2nd toshiba laptop and I love them, mine are tablets though. I had a satellite r15 which was killer solid until a jeep ran it over (no joke). My second one is an r25 which will being more powerful and widescreen, the latch sucks and the tablet screen seems flimsy and the fan ran all the time until I upgraded the ram. I run solidworks, photoshop and other heavy cad and surface modeling software which should be done on a desktop but it keeps up.

The problems I had with mine look to be resolved on the new ones.
