| Purify with flame | office pst truncation....MS does it to newest?
seems the handy little MS tool to truncate pst's to the 2gig mark cuts off the end of the file and therefore the newest mail? Anyway to get the opposite effect? I have a user with wayyyy tooooo much mail I am digging through trying to save her...UGH

pst2gb then scanpst then import to new .pst old client still using office 2k!!!! outlook 2k will let you get over 2gb, then SCREW YOU! I will try a tinier truncation slice and go after it again... funny how the more email you have the less files you have on your friggin pc... windoze users drive me mad!

I have a 2.XXgb pst that's 'broken' you can't access it with outlook. maybe outlook 2k7 would be fine with it. I don't have that at my disposal right now, since well, I use nix! so I have Mr Gates' lovely proprietary pst format. I used 2gbpst.exe m$ tool to truncate the file, great well just looooose data at the end then scanpst.exe'ed it outlook fired up with fresh pst......import eltoobigo back into it.......hey lady you have 12,000 emails in 'deleted items'! so I skip that.... ![]() now I have a segment of data, say LAST week.......of missing email thanks to file truncation...brilliant, we'll do it at the END of the file and snip the newest! YAY! ![]() So, now I want to take original broekn pst and cut it up, segment the time frame I want out of that with a nice SQL statement, and import that email. I found a proggy, 'advanced outlook repair'..., it appears to do just that........but it's a lovely 249.99... ![]() just the hell you get from users that can't archive, use multi .psts, and save everything in POP mail...bleh! ![]() ![]() ![]() probably the argument that Exchange IS a good idea after all! i'll get it.... just annoying.

Have you seen Windows Mail Backup, Outlook Backup, Outlook Express Backup software - StaticBackup Inc. I just ran across it, never heard of it, but can have it in minutes if you want it. Something here is nagging the back of the noodle. IIRC outlook crashes with half that many emails saved. I am wondering if they are corrupted and can even be salvaged at this point. I did do an outlook repair a few weeks ago but it did not involve PSTs. Inbox/Deleted box was so full the program would not send/receive and crashed nearly every time. Not sure if this will help. How to configure the size limit for both (.pst) and (.ost) files in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003 | |
