Jane's Longbow Gold?

Does anyone remember that game?

Has there been an updated version released? Or should I say, anything under a different title that is similar?

The original game will not load up on anything I own anymore, and it was such a fun game.

wow, there's a shot from yesteryear

Longbow 2 came out in 1997, and Longbow Anthology (Longbow, Flashpoint: Korea, and Longbow 2 in one box) came out in 1998

Yeah, I saw those while looking around on the site for a patch or something that would allow me to play it.

Apparently I am having some issue with DirectX. It will load all the way to the screen where you take off, it blinks twice and then you are looking at the desktop again. I have tried running in compatibility mode and all and nothing seems to work.

This game was so far ahead of everything else available at the time, I am suprized that they have not released a follow up.

I never played Longbow, but I loved the other 'Janes' flight sims. I need to find the ROMs for those.

Try this. I got this from another old game:

To disable the Directdraw acceleration: Open the Start menu, select "Run" and then type: "dxdiag" and click "OK". This will run the Direct X Diagnostic Tool. If you haven't run this before then you may see a dialog box about downloading something from Microsoft. What you select doesn't matter for these purposes.

5. Click on the "Display" tab and select the "Disable" button next to where it says Directdraw acceleration. Select "OK" on the box that appears.

7. In order to remind you to re-enable Directdraw acceleration after playing leave it running whilst playing the game.

Just remember to change it back when you are done playing.
