| Thick | Firefox issues in Ubuntu
A few months ago I noticed the bar across the top Firefox screen that has the buttons to close, minimize, and full-screen disappeared. Now suddenly I'm getting this: ![]() Since I no longer have the 'full screen' button, and can't drag the window bigger, I'm only getting 1/2 of a window. Weird. I can hit F11 and it'll full screen it but then I lose the menu up top. I'm assuming I can open a terminal window and type in something to fix this, but I'm not smart enough to know what to type.

Try changing the theme. System -- Preferences -- Appearance - Theme I had the same issue a year ago. IIRC changing to a different theme & then changing back fixed it.

Surestick, tried it and didn't work. zenmic, that lets me move the window around, but it's still just 1/2 screen. Thanks guys so far. I'm just using Swiftweasel for now as it's still healthy.

Probably a stupid question but have you tried searching/posting on the Ubuntu forums Ubuntu Forums? I've found them to be a really good resource. Out of curiosity what's your desktop background? A cow and a dog/wolf?

HurtCow, google for Window Decorations in Ubuntu. Apparently this is an issue to several people. I must be lucky, because I have not had this issue come up on my boxes running Ubuntu, and I am currently running 9.04 with all little desktop effects that make Vista, and OSX drool. Here is a link that should help. gnome window borders missing - Ubuntu Forums |

Surestick, not a stupid question at all. I need to go over there and just sign up. I figured I'd start the cheater way and ask here. The background is a picture of my dogs that an artist friend painted: ![]() zenmic, thanks, I'll check out that link! edit: I did what somebody on the forum link suggested and disabled desktop effects. Everything's all better now! Thanks guys.
