Unless you're already on T-Mobile and are eligible for the upgrade I wouldn't. They haven't hardly started building a 3G network, and most of the major carriers are coming out with their own Android devices.

Most everyone who did one of the last updates the G1 had said that their battery was better. HTC historically sucks down battery faster than others, so that might be a part of it. I don't think that the 2nd generation would be coming out unless they felt confident about it.

I have a G1 now and love it. I've been a T-Mobile customer for years. Tried every provider out except Verizon and they all have their weak areas. I've found dollar for dollar T-Mobile is the best. Great priced plans, great customer service. Verizon is the most expensive in this area and they are legendary around here in how awful their customer service is. Anyways I really like having a hard keyboard option on the G1, and I'm not eligible for a phone upgrade yet, but with all the new features coming on the MyTouch 3G, I may pick one up anyways to try it. Stopped by the T-Mobile store yesterday and they said this phone is not supposed to be as expensive as the G1 was when it came out. I'll find out for sure on July 8th I guess. Introducing T-Mobile myTouch? 3G with Google? |

I was thinking of one of these versus a G1, so I stopped by my local Tmobile store today. I am pretty much locked into Tmobile because I have been a customer long enough I have unlimited service for $50.00 per month. One of the salespeople had a 3G. It felt much like my son's Samsung Behold. I checked the call quality against my current phone (predecessor to the Wing). On my end, my older phone is a bit clearer, but my wife said the 3G was clearer on her end. Odd, that. The screen is not bad, about on a par with the G1 in the store. I think my current phone's screen is easier on my old eyes, but the 3G screen clearly had more and smaller pixels. The 3G will not change to landscape mode in the basic menu screen but will on other screens. Again, that seemed odd. I didn't have time to do much else, so that is the end of the information I can give. I plan on waiting until at least 8 July (only a week anyway) to see what the price point will be. I really prefer a hard keyboard, but the 3G is supposed to be significantly faster, so may be facing a difficult choice. custar |
