Haven't heard of that happening in a long time, but anyways.....

1) Control Panel >> Open "Network Connections"
2) Right Click >> Properties on your main network connection
3) You'll get a window, showing your network card, and all installed protocols
4) If you DONT see "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) listed, click on INSTALL
5) You'll get another sub-window, prompting for client, service, or protocol.
6) Choose PROTOCOL, you should see TCP/IP listed since it's not already installed. If not, you'll need your OS install cd handy.

What is the exact error message you're getting? What version of Windows are you using? If Kindred's suggestion doesn't help, that info would help immensely in understanding the problem.

If your computer was working fine before and all the sudden you are not getting a connection, try cycling the power to your Cable/ADSL modem, that is assuming when you say "TCP/IP" you meant not getting a IP address from your ISP DHCP server. call your ISP and see if there might be something wrong with the service if cycling the modem doesn't help.

Good point!
Are you just not getting an IP address?

Start >> Run
type cmd.exe (an old style "dos" box opens up)
type ipconfig and hit enter.
