I've yet to try and dunk it in water. My low velocity and lack of efficiencies may be due to a leak. Usually becomes louder during a lag inbetween shots.

mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

From my experience the Thumper does NOT like underboring at all. Everytime i tried that my Thumper got stuck while pumping, then i have to manually cock it forward. I'm using a 12" Deadlywind fibur and have a full freak kit.

Will it work underwater? I would be to scared to do that because of the tendency it has shown to rust lately.

Been a bit absent from this thread with work getting super busy lately. I'm glad to see that Brian is getting his new piston design out there rather than waiting for his V2 run to do so. He did say that the hammers were supposed to be stainless as opposed to the V3 pistons being just a mild steel. Not sure if he's doing that now or what though

I used inserts with a good fit with my fresh Nelson paint.
Efficiency is a huge letdown though.
Sorry Jack, I didn't rechrono yours to 280 (though I made a mental note to do so ) before sending it back, our field limit is 250. Not sure why it wouldn't come up to speed though.

Odd, I shot Redemption through a .676 sizer with few breakage issues (maybe 2 out of the 500 shots I put through) without having to cock it forward. I'm using the Null with a Lapco sizer, not sure if that would make a difference.

On the flip side, how many guns do you know that WILL work properly if not lubed well? Or that will shoot consistently without a good paint/barrel match?

Brian himself says that he likes to dump lube in the ASA (normal paintgun lube, NOT Vaseline) and shoot it through until it's coming out of the front end, and his keeps lubed just fine. I myself just use Vaseline on the piston, and everything works dandy.

I run all my ccm snipers dry and only lube the regs. I started mine out with air tool oil and it ran the best that way till stuff started breaking. Then ran it on vasoline and it ran worse. I dont get how running vasoline thru the air passages gets any on the orings other than the piston. The set screw in the piston is just another spot that can unscrew and cause malfunctions, not to mention that pot just got thinner allow future failure point. It just aggrivates me that because brian has one working gun then everyones should work. Now we are finding tolerance issues on parts because there was no time taken to check those before assembling and shipping.

Lubing your reg would technically lube the rest of the gun as you fired it.

You aren't supposed to run Vaseline through the air passages, or it gums up the whole gun and causes it to cease functioning. Some around the rings on your Clippard valve, and some on the piston is all it takes to keep the gun happy. In fact, that's the only lube I've used on my Thumper, and the only problem I have is losing the thin o-ring that goes between the VASA and the body of the marker.

The new piston design is supposed to not put torque on the system and hopefully cause less bending/breakage issues. Whether it stays strong at the attachment point is something that time will tell us. I personally just use the threaded piston and haven't been having any issues.

And the only tolerance issues I've seen are those with the roll pins in the hammers being too long, and one instance of the steel piston not having the o-ring groove cut deep enough (unless others have stated they've had the issue as well, but I haven't seen anything like that yet) both of which have been easy fixes. Brian is now making new hammers to fix the tolerance issues there.

That's how I felt, until I sent mine to LilShank (many thanks), who then had Brian do his thing. I know that even LilShank put a few 12g's through it after that.
I've had the Thumper for over a month since then. Used it at two events, and still works great.
