So I got my one apart that I have right now. I know what the problem was at the end of the day when I played with a couple of weeks ago, broken paintball. At any rate, I got it apart, took out the reg piston, cleaned it up, took off the o-rings, gave it a light sanding with 220 grit sand paper, nice and shiny, got them back on, and even got a synthetic lube with PTFE (Damn Magnalube...) and started getting everything together. Missed something (Doesn't that always happen?), took it somewhat apart, put the spring for the regulator back in , and got it all back together, only to find that the detent somehow got folded under the front can thing. Trying to get it apart, and found that I had to pry it partially apart, due to the pawl getting turned, and then finding that the spring on the back block (Not sure the exact name, but I figure you guys can understand what I am talking about) and it started to unwind itself. Yes, there was a part now where it was slightly unwound, and it looked like it was wound up, then flat, then started winding again, so it looked pretty much parallel. Now I need to get a new spring. Kinda ticked about that.

I'm confused as to why you sanded it when it was just a broken paintball causing the problem. Also aren't you only supposed to use Vaseline to lube them?

It's been recommend to sand the regulator piston. Helps with keeping things consistent. Finding the broken paint was more because I was taking it apart to get to the reg piston. As to the lube, it was recommend that you use Vasoline, but seems to be the new recommendation from Brian to use Magnalube. I looked around my area, can't find Magnalube, don't want to buy a case of it, and found Superlube, which is a synthetic lube with PTFE.

The Thumper is a fun marker to shoot, but until all bugs get fixed my Phantom will be my primary.

The manufacturer of originally stated that Vaseline should be used on the valve o-rings, but PTFE grease is now the recommended lube. I still use Vaseline and continue to have no issues.

The new piston worked for me, no problems at all. Adding the o-ring around the firing can gave me a 40fps jump. (shooting 220 to shooting 260)

I'll be checking in with Brian with my results on the piston.

Also, for those who are lubing your reg pistons, I'd recommend a very light coat of lube, as it can gum up your reg and body, which will cause malfunctions.

Got to use my thumper out on the field today and it malfunctioned again. Was hoping polishing the regulator piston would solve the issue but I guess not.....

Anyone interested in a blue thumper for $240? pm me if interested.
