So I've been thinking about the only problem that I have with my V1 Thumper... ball pinch.

I can go out and shoot a couple of 10 rd tubes and every now and again pinch a ball. I know I'm not alone on this. Not a big deal to fix on the fly, just push the back plate forward and flip the gun upside down then try again.

Just wondering if it's the detent design that could be causing this on the V1's. I was watching a couple of balls load without a barrel, and it looks like the breach is too big and the detent allows the ball to sit to the side too much and not load tight.

Here's what I mean:

i heated my detent up with a hair drier and tried to mold it down a little. i also ran it across some soft sand paper to give it more of a rounded top and take some extra material off it. never had a pinching problem with mine.

Some kind of wire detent would have been a neat solution. Open breech, wires poke in, close breech, wires get pushed out. What has the turn around time been for getting guns serviced?

That's exactly what the V2 detent system is supposed to fix:

However, if you want it, there's a fee involved. I'm not sure if he has any extras ATM.

They're actually being produced for the V2 guns, but if you call him you can order one for the original V1's. I haven't seen any in the dust colors yet though, the only reason I said I'm not sure of any extras.

Just got mine back from Metadyne last week ... guess I'll put it back together and see what happens ...

... also ... I got a little note attached saying the marker should not be taken apart for maintenance and that it should only be lubed ... WTF? Most of the issues I've had with this thing have been internal and required tear down to repair ... I'm not going to pay $40 to ship it away everytime a frakkin o-ring goes, at that rate I'd be in it for acouple hundred in just shipping and let's not forget the 'speedy' turnaround times

My faith is tentatively restored. I finally managed to time it right and got Brian on the phone. Seems the other gentlemen I spoke to mixed up his notes and they thought I wanted some extra items along with my repair. My file was pending payment for parts I hadn't ordered. He promised to test and ship it out shortly. I'm eager to get this thing back in my hands.
