Need advice from Nelson Gurus...Update!! 5/31/14

I have this Nelson body kit gun that I believe to be a J&J upgrade kit for the 007. I featured it here with lots of decent pictures.
Tag, J&J or Heckman?

Well I got around awhile ago to cleaning it up and maybe playing with it. Only seal that leaked was the 12g face seal. Before I cleaned it I shot it a few times and it seem a little rough on the pump stroke and shot a little slow. I cleaned it, oiled it but new stock 007 springs in it (got them form nelson paint inc.) Now when I cock it the back stroke is a little rough still, but the forward stroke is unbearable. It is dragging very bad. It did not seem to drag like that before I cleaned it.
Here are some more pictures.

The internals:

The bolt is very, very long. Longer than any other bore drop nelson I have ever seen. It is not adjustable.

The hammer is a stock 007 hammer does show some wear on the bottom.

I color the bottom of the hammer to get a better idea of where it is dragging.

You can see some rub marks in the body.

You can see it is rubbing on the bottom of the hammer in the back near the sear.

How do I stop this binding? I don't think lapco is a option due to the custom long bolt does not look like it will match up with anti kink parts.
Any ideas?

You don't have anti kink internals, so that's what happens. Not sure if it'll take standard bore drop internals, but if it does then maybe Bushmaster guts will fit.

well I know I don't have anti kink, I was saying I don't think they will be a option for this gun because of the front bolt. It is longer than a line SI, I will get some comparison pictures latter. I was hopeing someone would have a idea how to do it with out the standard anit-kink set up. Surely it was not sold orginaly with this much of a kink problem, then again maybe that is why you don't see many of them.

Fan of EMR
Can you take a couple pictures of the bolt and hammer outside of the gun with the sear latched onto the bolt like it would be when it's cocked?

Could be the angle but to me it looks like the part of the sear that engages the hammer is angled enough that it might be causeing the binding issues.

You could check with Bacci's new site, see if he has any Nelson antikink hammers that look like they will work.

You can send the bolt to an airsmith and have the rear bored out for a Phantom hammer's anti-kink shape. You'd swap the nelspot sear in, and it should work perfectly. This would be a pretty cheap fix on a lathe.

Simply adding an anti-kink hammer won't do anything since the bolt and hammer need to mate. That's why I suggest matching the bolt to an easily sourced anti kink hammer like the one in a Phantom.

I got some pictures of the bolt:

1. Line SI bolt
2. Random bore drop bolt
3. The bolt from the J&J kit.

As far as Nelson bolts go it is a monster, but judging form the back end of the bolt I should be able to get it milled to fit a Phantom hammer.
Now to find someone willing to try this.

I have one of these also, with the same crude internals and odd-ball powertube. While years ago these were sold in my area as a TAG (Texas Air Guns), Dan Bacci had some insight as to what these really are in his thread, and I tend to agree. Why they were marketed as TAG in these parts, I don't know. I've been working on mine, and have been interested making anti-kink internals and a better pump. The PVC is just awful. Let me know how you make out, I have access to a lathe, and the skill to make these, but lack the free time to do it. I'd be more than happy to purchase a set.

Am I missing something or did the op state that the pump stroke worsened after cleaning?

If so, did you replace the screws properly? Are they too tight?

Or am I completely off base?

Just curious.

Ah......ha! You said you used oil, common oil makes those o-rings swell which I assume is dragging into the barrel due to the length of the bolt.

It was a gun oil, and it is dragging on the hammer.
