SL-68 II Owners HELP ME!

I just got an SL-68 II today in the mail, and I have already messed it up. After putting some paint through it, I took the internals out to clean. I noticed that BEFORE I removed the internals, the gun did not cock when not gassed up, but AFTER I put them back in, the gun now cocks with no CO2 attached. It will fire now, but a cloud of CO2 will exit the cleaning port; this did not happen before.

Help? Is this marker supposed to cock or not?

Okay, so it IS supposed to cock.

This is good then, at least it is doing what it is supposed to. Now to check the o-rings I guess.

Thanks!

Whether it cocks or not just has to do with the balance between the main spring and the valve spring or the length of the pump rod. Most of them don't cock when they're not gassed up.

If the pump rod is too long (screwed too far out of the pump handle) you'll be able to cock it without gas, and when it does have gas you'll probably get a little burp when you pump it. That hurts your efficiency, so you probably want to turn the pump rod in a few turns.

It turns out it IS the pump rod being out too far. I have it set at a good distance that is still smooth, but also does not allow it to dry-cock.

Thanks for all the help!

You need to set the pump rod so that the bolt only goes just a little behind the rear of the feedneck opening. When it's set to do that it likely won't cock unless it's aired up.
