Sniper I & II History/Parts ??

I recently have be come obsessed with Autocockers, Snipers, and CCM's. Is there one website or place that would be considered the Sniper/Cocker king! Kinda like Wolverine did for the Impulse, etc. Is there a Sniper owners group site?

I hate to have to post a ton of questions. And yes, I have read many FAQ's and message boards.

Post them in the experts forum here, most sniper experts are here, and also alot of cocker guys.

There is also customcockers.com, the weakened offshoot of air-powered.com which was the go to place for autocockers.

But for snipers, this is the place as far as i know.

Customcockers is excellent. And while I know it's not a popular place around here the mechanical 'cocker and WGP forums at PBN are actually an oasis of knowledge and tolerance in a desert of agg.

But really, I doubt you'll get anything at those forums that you can't get here. Heck, I've got 5 autocockers and two snipers and had to pretty much fine tune and time all of them to some degree.

If I read the web correct, all valves will fit any Cocker/Sniper, but the newer ones have a bigger chamber. Who has the best drop in valve kit for a '99 Cocker/Sniper? I want to set up one of my Sniper's to run on CO2 cartridges. Thanks

Essentially correct. With the 2K+ bodies you need a slightly longer valve spring then you need for earlier bodies. I've heard some guys complain about not getting newer valves to seal right in early bodies though I've never experienced that. For valves kits there are a lot of good valve kits that work well, like Rat 3.16, Stock 2K+, AKA Tornado, Chippley Lower tube kit...etc.

If you want to use CO2 cartridges what you really need is an early valve and spring kit, with the sheridan style springs. That is if you are going to CO2 efficiency. I'm pretty sure I have all of the parts you need so I'll look and take some pictures of what you need. WWA used to make a little delrin plug you can put in the body behind the valve to decrease the volume behind the valve. You'll also want to use a CO2 charger directly in your vertical ASA to also keep expansion down. Now understand this is MHO on how to set up for CO2 cartridges and like anything else with snipers there are all sorts of ways guys set them up that work for them.

Grendel, don't you play at Paintball Charleston? I see you post over there board. I think I may have even met you once before. Do you also ref at PBC?

Thanks for the info. I agree about running the 12 gram changer right in the asa. Heck, if it worked on the original Sniper's, it should work now.

How about this one: Are the back blocks interchangable?

Yes, I play and occasionally Ref. at Paintball Charleston. I actually was one of the 4 original partners that formed Paintball Charleston but I had them buy me out early on. I've been friends with Tim [Brain] and Tim [Skeeter] for many years. So there is a real good chance we've played togather there.

Back Blocks are interchangable. My current main gun is a 98 body with a Chipply delrin back block [2K+] on it. That is one of the beauties of a Autococker/Sniper is the abilty to mix match parts to gain the setup/style that is good for YOU.

I actually just assembled a Sniper for Brain's son Greg, for his birthday, that mixed alot of different parts to get a setup geared just for Greg.

There are several guys at PBC who can help you out too with setting up a sniper. Matt Cosgrove, Brad [Bambuski], Geoff ...etc. Most of the guys who work the store are very experienced with setting up snipers and are regular users of them.
